FIRE AID was established with core funding from the UK Department for International Development (DFID) in 2014.
FIRE AID received core funding from the FIA Foundation from 2015-2020 through EASST, who are a FIRE AID founding member. FIRE AID’s work in the area of post-crash response is a part of the FIA’s focus on the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. The Foundations funding is essential to the running of FIRE AID.
“FIRE AID is a practical and cost-effective way to transfer equipment and expertise from the UK to countries with serious road traffic injury problems and limited resources. It addresses the critical need to ensure early and skilled intervention to rescue crash victims.”
Saul Billingsley, Director General of the FIA Foundation.
EASST is an independent UK-registered charity whose mission is to save lives and prevent injuries by making road transport safer, greener and more sustainable for future generations.
